Default Non stock starters

Time for a new starter on my 99 4.3 4wd auto blazer.
Instead of just replacing with a stock starter, if i can ill replace it with a high torque mini
starter to avoid the dreaded hot start problem.
No problems with one of these on my 13.5:1 434 sb vette.
Does anyone know which brand/model will fit the blazer,
Thanks Steve.

Good Day! I am surprised no one has posted a reply for this issue...I have personally never seen or experienced the heat soak on a stock set-up.Are you running headers? I am on my second 97 (first one went to 256K-retired due to rust) and while I pulled the starter from it before I parted it out for a spare,my second jimmy is still:click, voom! Even at sub-zero temps,2 or 3 turns and instant start! You sound like a mechanical dude:make sure all connections are good and then if you still need a new starter,I would just replace it with a stock unit unless you plan on compression upgrades etc...
Of course there are many mfrs that make a smaller body starter to fit this unit because it can be a pain to get a stock starter out and back into the limited space the engineers left us to work with; but search this site: your answers are here! Best of luck!

Thanks for reply step66, my blazer is bone stock with only 53k miles and mainly used as a tow vehicle. So the starters aren t prone to failure on blazers, explains the lack of replies. Guess i m unlucky as mine has started to make unusual sounds after its fired up.Maybe remove and check out before buying a new stock starter. Mechanical dude, probably am after building my 9 sec 434 sb 700 horse + nos vette. Its much simpler to work on than a computer controlled blazer though.
