Update: I got the hub assembly's and ball joint for half of the cost the shop quoted. One hub assembly and ball joint weren't too much difficulty to do but i couldn't get the second axle nut off so i had them do it. During the job i noticed their tech that did the inspection cross-threaded one of the lugs and in removing it i toasted the wheel stud. Fortunately the hubs had their own studs so that's all good too. They redid the alighnment for free and now she runs great!

It's still turning into a money pit but i'm convinced my luck will soon change and i'll have months of worry free driving before the next problem

I'm late... I had same problem with the 96 I just bought 2 months ago. 2 new hubs, both upper and lower ball joints solved all of my road rumbles and swaying. After alignment she's all straight and true. Big key is too make sure you keep the ball joints lubricated.
