I have a problem with my distributor and need to set cam retard. Will this scanner help set it??

pretty sure the s10 computers themselves do all the adjustments. we have a very expensive scanner at work that has all sorts of diagnostic and live stream data on it and i dont think i ever seen anywhere to adjust anything like that

 

All of the ones on that page are glorified code readers. No, they will not access camshaft retard, (CMP retard). Autoenginuity software for a laptop is probably the cheapest you'll find that will access it. Ebay has some decent used Snapon Solus scan tools starting around $1500. Solus Pro, & Solus Ultra will also access it, but they are more expensive. Gotta make sure it has the software update to accomodate your model year. Annual software updates are available ONLY through Snapon and are $1K.
