Anyone have any experience with the digital odometer intermittently freaking out? About half the time it will be fine. The other half, the display will scramble, sometimes one side will black out with the other side scrambled and vice versa, other times the display goes completely out, but will always eventually come back on. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to it. Fuses look ok. Other gauges are fine (except for a dead fuel gauge, but thats another issue). Do these displays just go bad? I imagine they're a pain in the *** to replace.

Could be a loose connection or a bad solder joint on the backside of the instrument panel (IP). Getting the IP out is not really all that difficult....not going to list the steps unless this is something you are willing to tackle. I remove the IP about every two years to clean the dust off the gauges and inside of the clear plastic cover. Takes about 30 min or so to get the IP out. Once IP out, easy to disassemble and reflow some solder joints.
Or the odometer is actually stored in the BCM (Body Control Module)...so could be a loose connection at the BCM..or possibly a damaged wire between the two. Is there an aftermarket alarm system installed? If so wire could e been damaged then which might be under the steering wheel...would still require removing trim panels to access.
Going to require a day to search around.
