Oil pressure pegged

Just undo the wires on the driver's side, then pull the cap off and flop it over to the side. Mark the position of the rotor on the distributor body with a Sharpie. Undo the clamp and lift the distributor straight up. The rotor will rotate a bit when you pull it up. Mark the "new" rotor position on the distributor body, too. When you want to reinstall the ditributor, line the rotor up with the second mark and drop it in. It should rotate as it goes in until it lines up with the first mark. As long as you don't turn the engine while it's out, that's all you have to do. No need to set the engine at TDC or anything like that. It makes it a pretty simple job.

Although I've removed the distributor both times I've changed my sensor, I don't think you need to.

A 3/8 ratchet with the deep socket that fit the sender is the best setup. I tried a number of extensions and universals, and they really don't help. You're just all the way down and back behind the engine.
