Default Overhead display dome light connections

I'm changing overhead consoles, from temp/direction, dome lights, sunroof switch, adding MPG, range on gas, etc to display and homelink to everything I had previously. No matter what I try, cant get dome lights to come on with open door, must be me missing something. Old console, sticker on back says made 10/06/00, has blue 8 position connector, utilizing A (white), B (gray), and D (black) on console side of connector plug to power dome lights, G (clear) and H (Red) for microphone. New console, made 01/08/00 has a gray 6 position plug, utilizing A (white), B (gray), D (black) for dome lights and C (orange), D (black), E (yellow) for Homelink box. Some of the colors change on the vehicle side of each connector. Any idea's on how to properly hook these up so both dome and homelink work? I have done lots of searching here and elsewhere...

Tried DMM on all three wires, can't find a combo that goes from 0V to 12V when I open the door, seems odd to me, I must be missing something.

The courtesy lights are triggered by the courtesy lamp relay which completes the ground side of the dome lamp circuit.

The orange wire should be +12V constant. The black should be a constant ground. The white wire will be switched ground for the dome lamps.

Thanks for the help Kyle! Origionally had tried that with no luck. After your post, I tried it again, no light yet. Then I realized that I was doing all my work outside in bright sun, and therefore missed that all of my dome lights were out. After replacing the fuse, your wiring worked just as you said it would.
Thanks Again!
Joe
