Tonight I removed my throttle body and cleaned it, along with a couple of other things. While I was waiting on a seal to turn tacky for an unrelated task, I went ahead and peaked into the intake plenum. I'm curious about what I saw.

On the left side of the plenum, there is a gold-ish coloring splattered about. It is mainly over cylinders 1 and 3. Sooner or later I'll get around to removing the plenum and cleaning up in there, however I would love to know what is causing the golding of the insides.

Im not positive but I think the goldish is actually where it is clean if you cleaned the oil and carbon of I think it would all be goldish.

 

Looks like a fuel leak - as port said, it's where the plenum has been cleaned, usually by fuel leaking (washing).

Actually that is quite clean IMO. Looks completely normal to me. I have had the intake plenums off of quite a few SCFI motors and most all of them had an odd pattern on some of the closer protrusions in the front due to the EGR gasses and how they flow through the intake.
