Default possible first blazer

hey, I'm looking at buying my first blazer, and I wanted some input. Here's the link, and I believe I can get it for 3500. it's a 4.3L V6

http://myrtlebeach.craigslist.org/cto/2165669284.html

the car is as clean as it looks. no rust/rot on the frame or in the wheel wells. the paint and interior are clean, tires have plenty of life on them. engine bay is clean. supposedly just tuned up. no service engine light (comes on when you turn the key to show it does work).

concerns: is that mileage accurate, because these odometers roll back to 0 after 99,999 miles i believe? i'll check the carfax if i decide to go with it.

there is a very quiet hum/whine coming from the engine bay and it sounds like a belt? he said it's most likely something to do with one of the belts. i'm not a mechanic and i'm not good at diagnosing things. i know that without hearing it in person you can't be sure, but are these things known for similiar noises.

and further, are these cars prone to problems? i've heard the 4.3 is a strong motor that can run forever. from what I've told you, and what you guys know, is this something worth going for or will I regret buying it?

thanks for any help

The odometers are digital and continue to 999,999 miles. Not sure what happens after that, but it would be worth the $3800 if it were around for 1 million miles and still looked that good!

Nice Blazer. It does not mention if this is 4WD or 2WD?
That would make a big difference in price and things to come
as far as maintenance and fun. Being Florida I am thinking 2WD.
Still worth it if it runs like a champ.

Its a 2wd. Just look at the wheels and ride height. The hum could be a belt. Its hard to say not hearing it myself. But overall 3800 could be a fair price for it with the milage. And I'm sure you could haggle a little on it. Good luck!

no vehicle has been like that since the late 70's. a few were into the 80's before 6-digit odo's became the norm.

where are these pic's you guys were refering to? all i've seen are the 2 outside ones, and the from the driver's door.

the asking price definately seems high IMO. like 40 to 50% high.
