Started it this morning to try and find out where the tap was coming from. Then all of a sudden there is 5 quarts of oil all over the street and I quickly shut it down. No oil in the truck right now and I cant tell where it all leaked out. It looks like somewhere near the oil filter or maybe above it. What in the world could have caused this massive spill?

A thrown rod that blew out the bottom end of the engine.

hopefully it was just getting lower and lower on oil-possibly due to either(per your description-near oil filter) a loose/not seated/bad rubber 'o' ring on filter or remote oil lines...bad. maybe/wishfully thinking. Get oil in it and look....good luck and keep us posted. Wonder if the dealer that sold it to you knew of any of these issues??? Jerry

Forget the Seafoam idea. Hopefully the oil filter fell off or something dumb like that.

Well here is the scoop:

The oil filter gasket is what caused the spil. So the tech replaced the filter, filled up with 5qts and boom, it happened again, oil spils out. The tech told me it was the oil pump causing this problem, somthing about a preasure thing in the oil pump and the whole pump needs to be replaced.

Has anyone ever heard of this? An oil filter gasket not holding up because od something going on with the oil pump?

That does not sound correct... I believe the pressure bypass is at the filter location...
