Default R.P.O. Question..

Yeah, yeah, Just another JAFN (Just Another F'n Newbie) . . .

While waiting for parts and SM's for my "new" '99 Blazer, I got poking 'round this forum.
BUNCH of use full tech-tips / troubleshooting guides in the archives here! Please see my newb post for more of my back ground.

Anyway, using the RPO sticky, I've come to find my LS has the ZR2 option - there is NO badging/stickers anywhere to confirm this.

My question(s) are :
Was there a "delete" option for the badging?
How can I tell if it is an actual ZR2, and not someone changing the glovebox?

It does have after-market "wagon-wheel" rims dressed in 30's.

More questions coming, I guarantee!

Thanks,
P.J.

Does the VIN on the glove box door sticker match the VIN on the driver door jamb and on the dash? If they all match, it is in fact a ZR2.

Thanks Capt.,

Now the but - about half of the sticker in the glove-box is gone, the upper right 1/4 or so and the lower right bit.
So, I can't confirm if it's the original, or not. I can't even confirm the gearing...

I've guessed on some of the RPO sequences - leading character, trailing character, but didn't show up on
the "anglefire" site that's on the sticky..

Is there any way a measurement, a VIN character, or something I could get to check?

This is not a rush, just a mere curiosity thing FOR NOW. . . . ( Evil grin..)

Did you try an online VIN decoder? Try compnine.com It will give you a list of all RPO codes.

Thanks again Captain Hook -

Best 5 bucks I've spent in a long time!
"compnine.com" did confirm that it is a ZR2 +70-some-odd other options! (3.73 posi is also nice.
About 70 miles/day to-from work should help the gas wallet!)

Just a smidge of an upgrade from the 3500 (big grin)

Now, if these damn parts show up tomorrow(Monday) like they're supposed to... The SM's are gonna be a week or so.

The other axle ratio, (more common) is 3.42:1 and gets better mileage yet! But you lose some off the line. Does yours have RPO G80?

Who the heck I'm gonna go at it with a 2-ton truck at 3 in the morning..
(besides the 5-0 looking for the DUI's?) and 4pm, on the way home, is a parking-lot on the highways/parkway/expressway/freeways (depending where you're from..)

Yes, it does(G80). Gonna be great on the un/under plowed snowy roads! Having an open diff on the K, may not need 4wd as often now. It also should "lock-up" the 4x4 quicker than the heated lock in the K vs. the vac. on the Blazer.

P.J.

P.S. - I've modded that heater on the front of the K to a toggle switch, so that I can use 4-L as 2-L/creeper gear for low speed "maneuvering" I'm thinking/planning on doing the manual-cable for the Blazer to do the same...
