R134a how much "psi"
Hello
I have a 98 blazer 4.3. I think my poor a/c performanceis due to too much refrigerant (around 60 psi while cycling)- this happened because I thought the system was low so I added some. However I think it’s a defective switch on the low side (tapped the switch and it started working). DO I relieve the pressure by pressing the pintle on the low side connector? Ill be sure to ware gloves and eye protection. Can I replace the switch without losing all the pressure? Also I was wondering what psi should register on the low side when the ambient temp is around 90 degrees.
Thanks
Joe

The low pressure reading will vary second to second with where you are in the compressor on/off cycle, as well as other factors.
Best bet for getting it right is to remove all refrigerant, vacuum the system (a quick vacuuming should do) and install the factory spec charge.

a/c trouble.jumped compressor to override lowrefrigerant switch to get compressor to cycle, so i can charge the system. clutch engaged, no noise. hooked up autozone recharge kit 134A, gauge reads normal charge, drops to zero when compressor kicks on, comes back up when compressor kicks off. that's about as far as i've gotten b/c i don't know the limits of the charge i can put in. should i just keep putting in freon even if it readson the gauge that the pressure is reaching a damaging level?? i'm thinking not, which is why i stoppedworking on it for the time being, but still no a/c. after i removed the jump, the compressor wouldbegin to cycle, as normal, for a few seconds, but shuts off b/c of no/low charge.
