Hi there, I was hoping if I can get some opinions on my Blazer. It started about 1 1/2month ago, for about 1 week my Blazer was giving me problems starting, it wouldn't catch on the first crank (shot), were I head to re-crank either 2-3x for it to start. Assuming it was either the starter or alternator as I never replaced either, so I purchased both parts at a nearby auto parts place, were my vehicle died on main road doing 60km, i managed to glide into a parking lot. My brother-n-law suggested isn't wasn't either as the vehicle was able to crank over & the battery had juice. So I decided to get it towed to a major auto parts/repiars place up here in Ontario. They came to the conclusion it was a fuel pump (8hrs+parts totalling $1700 approx). With it being so expensive I had to inquire elsewhere just to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off, it seems I was as the standard time on a fuel pump for a Blazer was 4hrsmore or less and the mechanic that looked into it said the pressure gauge wasn't leaking as it held pressure around 50psi even after I turned off the truck. Now this mechanic suggested it was the rotor & cap that needed replacing, after doing a tune-up on the truck it ran fine for about 2-3 weeks till the problem started all over again. Is it possible it is the fuel pump? How can giving it a tune-up extend the life of the pump by 2-3 weeks. He now seems ot believe its a leaky fuel injector as I have to turn it off & on 10-15-20 times as you hear the vehicle sputtering trying to catch till finally it catches....any thoughts &/or opinions will be appreciated

you need 60 psi fuel pump pressure..it is possible you have a leak in the injector system or a bad/weak fuel pump

8 hours labor is ridiculous. I did mine in 2, on the ground in the dirt.

Replace it yourself.
