Default Rear door problems on 2000 LT

I just bought this 2000 LT 2WD, seems like it's led a charmed life of living in a garage and being pretty well maintained. Still, being a Chevy Blazer, it's got a load of nitpickin' problems

Today's problem to ask your help on : rear hatch.

Problem 1 : it does not lock when I lock the doors. I do not have the key fob, so I cant test it that way.

Problem 2 : the smooth black button will not pop the rear window. The button on the dash will.

Other info : if I lock the drivers door, and the 'security' light goes solid, when I open the rear hatch the alarm goes off. The rear wiper and washer both work fine. I *think* the defrost does as well, but havent had a frost yet to tell. Anything else that could help you diagnose this, please ask.... I dont want to tear it apart till I get some more intel on what the probable cause of the problems are.

This post is too old for me to edit, still have the problems but a few things have changed.
#1 - I now have the key fob, and it will pop the glass, but still no locking of the whole hatch. When locking or unlocking of the truck with the remote, There is no sound from the hatch, no solenoid clicking etc. So I'm guessing wiring harness or dead solenoid?

#2 - The defrost does not work, and there are no visible damage to the grid.

I could live without the defrost, but I really have to figure out how to lock the rear door. Do you think it's electrical or mechanical? Anyone ever experience these problems? The info in the OP about the washer/wiper working fine still holds true, so at least some power is getting back there.

I had to replace the button on the hatch on mine as well. You may have a bad solenoid, check it with a DVOM or test light when trying to pop the hatch and see if your getting power.
