so I bought my 97 blazer Lt about 3 weeks ago. today for the first time i attempted to open the glass part only of the back hatch. this would not open and appears locked. there is a keyhole on the back hatch. i tried the ignition key but this would not work.

is there a different key used for the back hatch or is it the ignition/door key? is there a button or something i am missing that will pop the glass even it is locked?

any suggestions are helpful.

 

update- i pulled the back panel off and the actuator is working. it is sliding the lever over and that is releasing the lock mechanism but the lock is not releasing.

 

i had the same issue with my 97 blazer ls 2dr, my motor was operating fine but the actuator wouldn't respond so i had to go inside and bend the plastic panel away from the hatch enough to reach my hand in and hit the latch that releases the glass. sounds like you already tried that though so i cant help. i wish you luck though mine took me about 2hrs to figure out so have fun haha
