I have a 2003 Blazer Xtreme and everytime it is cold out, my rear hatch sticks shut until the car is warmed up or the weather gets warmer outside. Does anybody know what I can do to not make it stick anymore?

Does the latch work when its cold out or can't you push in the release button?

If all that is sticking is the seal around the window, go get a can of silicone spray and spray down the entire seal, wiping off any excess. The silicone may leave a residue on the paint so try not to get any on it. I just had to go through and do this to my Bravada and it made a HUGE difference. The silicone will revitalize the weatherstripping. I went around and did it to every peice of weatherstripping on my truck. I also wiped it on all of the surfaces that the weatherstripping seals against to ward off any sticking.

A can of silicone spray will cost you about $3.

 

The release works, but it just seems the window gets stuck when it is cold out. Thanks for the info about the silicone spray, I will try it this weekend.

yeah, if its the seal sticking, the silicone will fix it right up. I usually treat the weatherstripping on all of my vehicles twice a year. Start of the winter and end of the winter. It actually is the summer time where they get dried out the most and if you don't keep them clean, they'll dry out even faster. I make it a point to wash the door jams and weather stripping whenever I wash one of my vehicles.

 

Me too. I baby the hell out of my car. I washed it twice in the last three days. It rained the day after the first one, and today it was really nice out, and i wanted to wax it, so i had to wash it.
