i have a 98 jimmy , auto trans , 110k .
sometimes when i use 4hi it goes into it fine but has trouble going back into 2hi . when i press the button the light flashes and i can hear the motor working but it just goes back to 4hi .
today when it did it istomped on the gas from a stop and hit the 2hi button at the same time and it immediately worked .
any input on this is appreciated .

 

I'm not sure what the cause or fix is, but try switching from 4Hi to 2Hi in reverse.

I probably wouldn't switch between them when hitting the accelerator hard.

 

ill try that . some one else told me to try it in neutral ..
