replacing intake gasket

Default replacing intake gasket

new guy here with a couple questions. how the heck do you unhook the tv cable ? are these intakes 2 peices ? if so it looks like in the book the upper has to come off because there are bolts in the lower half holding it on ? thanks for any info

By TV cable, do you mean throttle cable? If so, I just took the whole bracket loose when I did my intake gaskets. Sorry.
Yes, if your blazer is newer the intake is (top) black plastic (bottom) aluminum.
Yes, you have to remove the top part as well.

Also another thing to add is that get the felpro pinto gasket set the gaskets are made better than factory ones for they expand and contract alot better than factory ones plus the kit comes with all the gaskets you will need to do the fix!! Good luck I remember how much I disliked doing mine but it saves money by doing it your self!!

The TV cable which is actually the cruise cable, because the trans does not use a TV cable anymore, has a small clip that holds it on, and it is a @#*@ to remove, your best bet will be to remove the three bolts that hold the throttle body on. And NO you will NOT need to remove the upper black plastic intake on the 96 and newer motors to remove the lower intake to replace the intake gasket. If you have a 95 or older then yes the upper needs to come off. If you do a search you will find a nice thread on this job with pictures!! HTH

thanks for the feed back guys. sorry i didnt get back sooner. got most of it done today should finish tomorrow. i talked to a mechanic i know & he told me how to do it. what the hell is up with all the fancy plastic clips ? why cant they stay with simple ones ?anyway i took the power streering pully off. big mastake the threads didnt hold putting it back on. when i talked to my buddy he said they dont take it off. wished i had known that ahead of time. oh well. i told my son to start saving his money & pay someone next time i didnt like doing this at all. i hope like hell it is fixed, should find out tomorrow. thanks again guys
