Default RKE add on?

My blazer has power windows and locks.... No keyless entry. Question is if i can get ahold of an RKE module and some fobs is the nessicary harness there to just plug and play? Or would it be a pain to add? I'd like to have it but if it's not plug and play I don't think I will. Especially considering the problems that aftermarket alarms/RKE seem to cause on these trucks.

You could try it. It depends on the options already turned on in the BCM.

I added it to mine by also swapping in the BCM out of the donor truck along with the RKE module. RKE by itself didnt work.

Ok thanks guys. I'll consider it. I guess it more depends if I can find a donor truck with the same options and a bcm and rke still in it lol

I have an Avital Alarm / Car Starter installed on my truck. 2 years, and no problems. Had one on my 98' as well for the 6 years I owned that one. The 98' had no stock alarm system installed. My 02' came with the factory alarm (which still works, though I don't use it). The only issues I had with the aftermarket systems going in was with the starter. Our trucks take more to crank over, so half the time the starter wouldn't start the truck, and the other half it would start, but it would then try to restart the truck, because the system was in its (try 3x then stop) loop, while the truck was running...GRIND MUCH?!?! I had to buy a tach wire attachment, which fixed that issue. Now, each start is flawless, regardless of crank time! It will crank until it starts

No real issues with my truck. $150 w/ installation (not lazy! shop warranty). I can scare kids walking by my truck, and go out to a cooled or warmed truck all year! Auto Shut-off after 15 minutes, just in case I bump it

^^ I'll look into that. Mine doesn't have a factory alarm OR passlock so it MIGHT be ok. Aftermarket alarms/RKE's just scare me cause i've seen many vehicles (not just blazers) wind up with major issues because of them.
