Never found a solution for sure yet. I think it may be the fuel injector spider as that is the only thing that makes sense to me.

jnewtonav: in your case I would check the plug wires are correct at the distributor cap. Very easy for a shop not to pay attention and get the odd side incorrect.

So you're saying the plugs could be wired incorrectly and the vehicle would operate mostly as normal except for the above mentioned issue?

jnewtonav: only making a suggestion since the trouble did not appear until after you have work done. It is an easy check, takes a few minutes to do and eliminates one possibility.

Could be that the shop did not get a plug wire all the way on or a plug is cross-threaded....could be a number of things.

I guess since you had a shop do work, take it back to them and tell them to check everything as something is not right.

Good luck.

check the wires at night or in a dark garage. look for arcing. Easily causes a rough idle

I've had this "vibration at idle in drive" for a long time. It is just enough to get the plastic door molding/window trim of the passenger side rattling. Now I have noticed that when I first put the car into gear, it jumps, which reminds me of a Ford Taurus I had with a bad motor mount a long time ago.

Another clue, but not enough to go after those mounts yet. Is there a way to see if the mount is busted without removing it?

Lanny,

you ever figure out the problem with the rough idle? I am having the same problem on my 87K5. Thanks

Marc
