"(Shocks just dampen the bounce, they don't help the ride. That's the job of the springs. talk to a spring shop, they can remove, or add a leaf, or replace them with softer rate springs)"
That is a quote I came across today on a Chevy Truck forum........
Has anyone used the Non ZR2 springs on their ZR2?
Like many of you, I drive all highway/street and am looking for comfort over 4X4 capability.
It seems the idiots that are in charge of maintaining the roads here in Colorado all have their heads up their a$$es.

If you want to swap to softer springs, you can use a softer spring rate torsion bar from a Blazer with the Premium Smooth Ride package for the front, but I believe that the rear leaf springs are slightly different length so you'll have to order some or get them made.

Good info thanks. I'll keep the springs all stock and replace all the grommets/rubber parts/control arms etc.... along with new shocks and search for a great riding all terrain tire.
Seriously though, these roads in the Denver area SUCK big time, along with minimal repair the street engineers decided to put "ALL" the sewer access covers right in line with the path of the tires, and they all sit 2" below the asphalt. What a bunch of morons.

You should try Oklahoma City streets.......voted worst in the continental US by some truckers union or something. My ZR2 is my daily driver, very seldom see the need for 4WD but when we need it here we really need it. I will be getting my springs from General if they come back with the correct eye info. I was holding back because the only place I had found them before this thread they were $60 more per spring. I hopefully will be hitting the buy button soon.

I have Bilsteins on my F-250 (aftermarket, not OEM) and they've spoiled me. The difference in ride between the Bilsteins and the Pro-Comp shocks they replaced is night and day. I don't think I'll ever run anything else on a daily driver now.
