rust around filler neck

Default rust around filler neck

just wondering if any body has a solution to surface rust just below top of filler neck.

grind it down with a rust removing pad and paint over it with rust proof paint. you shouldint have to take very much material off at all if you do then the strength of the part will be compromized. if it looks like it goes deep into the metal or you can see it on the otherside, you will probably have to get it replaced at a shop.

thanx I was just thinking of putting some rust stop on it, but maybe painting would be better

Unless you got a special radiator the side tanks on the second generation Blazers are plastic. So if it looks rusty it is just Dexcool orange impregnated into the plastic filler neck...

wow i thought we were talking about the gas filler neck, whcih one is it the gas or the radiator?

it might be a little rought to get to so make sure you take the time to get ALL of the rust off and it will last a long time.

Dexicool itself isnt the problem itself. If you have been putting regular water in there then thats were you get it from. Dump the dexicool and put just regular in there and from now on just put distilled water it there.

its the GAS filler neck not the coolent.
