There is a horrible scraping sound and a few sparks flying when I start my 01 xtreme up. Does anyone know what this could be. I have enclosed a pic of where the sound is coming from. I am cluesless to trucks. thank you.

little update. I was alost home, then i started smelling something. Ac stopped working. This piece, whatever it is broke off. Anyone know what it is or how to fix or replace it? much appreciated. 01 blazer xtreme. thanks so much. took another pic of piece loose. hope pic works.

Wow. That's your AC compressor. I'd say it was seized. Was being the key word. Now you need a compressor I would guess...yikes..
