Security function
My 2000 4WD 4 door is in good general condition (except the stupid clickings in the torsion bar ends) and I bought it used. It has the "security" yellow light in the cluster but I can't know if the alarm related with it is included in the package or not. I only have the metal key and not the electronic key holder that open/ close the locks. After reading the owner's manual ( a1998 edition) , it mentioned the centrol lock buttom as a requisit for the alarm but I can't get the 30 seconds "security" light on as well as no horn. But I can be wrong in that. Any ideas about the RPO code related with the security alarm?, other advise?, could other electronic device be used?. Thanks.
My 2000 LT has the following RPOs among a bunch of others but I don't see one for "Content Theft" although it is indeed on the vehicle --
AU0 "LOCK CONTROL, ENTRY" , REMOTE ENTRY
AU3 LOCK CONTROL , "SIDE DR, ELEC"
I have the keyless entry key fobs. The manual indeed says to use the electronic driver's door lock with the door open to set the system "if equipped" whereupon the security light will stay solid for :30. But it also says the SECURITY light will flash anytime you open the door if the ignition is off -- if your vehicle is so equipped. Do you have a flashing security light when you open the door?
You can view an electronic version of your owners manual at www.mygmlink.com -- you have to register but it's worth it -- it has helped me a bunch as my used Blazer didn't come with a manual.
