Default Service engine soon.

Hi. My service engine soon light just came on in my 99 Blazer after a short trip on the highway. It runs fine...no change in performance at all. It's got 80k miles on it.
Probably no way to read codes witout a scanner right? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Drive down to your local Advanced Auto or Autozone and have them read the codes for you.

That is probably what I will do. Do they mind doing it if you don't buy the parts?
I still might want to own a scanner.

Scanners are definitely nice to have. I own an AutoTap. Definitely a good tool to have in the garage when working on newer (96+) vehicles. My Autotap lets me view/record sensor data as well as read/clear codes.

I have even seen over filled gas tanks cause SES lights as well as under tightened gas caps. I always fill up until it clicks itself off and that is it. Also, when I tighten down the gas cap, I make sure that it clicks atleast 3 times.

Have you gotten your codes read yet?
