Default SES Light Unreadable

2000 2 door blazer ZR-2, 120k miles.

Drove around all day yesterday, no problems. Turned it on after a short stop, and the "service engine soon" light came on.

It still runs fine, doesn't feel or sound like anything is wrong with it.

Took it to 2 separate car parts stores (Autozone and O'Reilly) and both said that their computers couldn't connect to my truck.

What's wrong here? How do I get it so that their scanners will read the codes?

Check the fuse for the cigarette lighter. It also powers the OBD port.
