Just get a capable scanner and do it yourself! I post ad nauseum in this forum about cheap scanners to do CMP retard.

okay, I downloaded "Car Gauge Pro" and ordered a bafx obd2 blutooth adapter.
So where do I find the cam retard page?
I'm now assuming I'll have to wait for the obd2 adapter before all the choices become visible
Thanks

I had some unplanned travel for about 5 days, then about 6 days of planned leisure travel. I'm back home now, but going out for the weekend in the morning. Sorry for the delays getting back to you. The past couple weeks have been a nightmare.

I think you were going the right way, but I'm still not 100% sure.

Just watch what the guy at O'Reilly's selects, or ask him to let you "drive" the tool. I'm pretty sure if you saw a change from ~19° to ~5°, you were looking at the CMP Offset/CMP Retard setting.

As for making things adjustable, unless you have a good drill bit and drill press or vice, drilling out the oblong (actually oblong the wrong way) hole on the stock bracket is going to be difficult. The Mr. Gasket dizzy clamp for a small block Chevy bolts right on and is fully adjustable.

Car gauge pro with that BAFX bluetooth adapter definitely works. It will be next week before I'll be able to check on the Bosch scan tool at O'Reilly.

Les can probably give you an exact "how to" on using CarGauge Pro. I was able to stumble into the CMP Retard settings on a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup with a 4.3L.

yes you are correct. You will have to scan PIDS while connected to your vehicle before you can select them.

As a Car Gauge Pro owner you should read the whole thing, but especially see posts #21 and #27

Great! I needed that. I have been looking for a "how to" for this app.
Thanks so much.

I see I said to use single asterick CMP RETARD in the link. You will end up having to make a choice. I'm thinking it's really supposed to be double asterick CMP RETARD - at least that's what I've been telling everyone for quite some time. I guess I need to check and see which one matches my other software again.

Hey RacerX, if you also got Torque Pro can you please use it to evaluate PID refresh rate for the new BAFX adapter. It has a function that will do this. Interested in knowing how it stacks up to the old one for refresh rate. The more PIDs you want to monitor at the same time, the more important this becomes. It's under Adapter Status/Select Adapter PID read speed in Torque Pro.

Thanks!
