Default Shift Cable Linkage

My neighbor broke my Blazer yesterday. He drove down the street pulled back into my driveway, put it in reverse then the shift lever just flopped around. It's actually just that the cable came off the shift arm. The ball that holds it on is gone. Has anyone used one of these to reattach the cable?

I'll let my neighbor think he broke it for a few days. He's a gym coach with lots of muscles and I told him he pushed the shift lever too hard.

Never seen that before but it looks like a decent fix. For not that much more money I'd personally replace the entire cable rather than one piece though. I have done a cable replacement and have a write up for it here as well. It can be done in under an hour pretty easily.

I think a new cable is about $100 vs $21 for the pin. Even though there's not a lot of side force on the cable I like that it's held on with a clip rather than the ball on the cable. I know...I think I'll just wrap some wire around it or better yet...duct tape.

"Muscle Boy" gave money for the connector pin along with money for the Blazer. I've had this Blazer for 16 years and hated to give it up but I guess it's time has come. I'm now down to my 2005 Deville and a 1998 GMC 2500 so I guess my time here is done...at least as an owner. Since I sold it to a friend I'm sure he will need assistance at some time. Captain...I've learned so much about the Blazer systems from you guys that crosses over to all GM vehicles that I'm certain I can troubleshoot and repair most problems myself. About the only thing I haven't replaced is the Blend Door Actuator but thanks to you guys I know that you can reach it through the glove box.
