shift solenoid problem
i have a 98 blazer and today i decided to change the tranny filter in today(what a ****ty idea that was!!!!)after a few hours of fighting to get the pan back in i finally got it back on and took it for a test drive and now i have a check engine light on.so i scanned it and it comes up as a shift solenoid.my question is do you think i broke something in the progress of doing this or just knocked a wire loose.i don't want to have to pull that pan off more than one more time.
thank you in advance for any tips or info

Well, you may have caused an issue if you stretched a wire or otherwise abused these solonoids while trying to put the pan back on. They are very sensistive! I encountered the same issue last summer, but while I did not have any problems getting the pan off or back on(and went as gently as possible) my 97 developed a similar problem
ccaisional hard 1-2 shift and no OD! So: had to drop the pan AGAIN(after replacing the TPS!)to swap out the bad one,and has worked fine since! And I got to change my tranny fluid twice in one month! Search this site for your symptom and you will find the answer!

Those connectors on the solonoids break off VERY easy, A Plug on mine broke off like nothing when i pulled the valve body to replace it and the separator plate.
also if you unplug a connector with the battery terminals connected, it throws on code instantly and stays on untill you clear it.

Yeah,I had to unbolt the rear trans mount (not completely) in order to raise the trans enough to pull & replace the pan on my 97 without damaging (I had hoped, the solonoids)
and when I encountered the problems-I did the exact same thing again-and this time with no issues...I guess the old plastic units fail at the slightest touch, since being subject to so much heat...What a pain! But easy enough! Good luck!
