Default Shifter handle.

Does any one know how to remove the shifter handle on a 99 blazer, centre console mount , auto trans.
Looks like a clip of some kind on the back of the handle, but what to do with it, push, pull, twist.
Thanks in advance.
Happy New Year.

go in the slot with a pick or very small slotted screwdriver and pull it straight out. Upon re-installation, I find it helpful to take a pair of pliers and slightly bend the open end in slightly and re-install..Jerry

Well the shifter will not move into 1 or 2, just put it in d and its works normally. I went under and disconnected the cable from the trans , still the same so there must be a problem in the console. Hence the need to remove the shifter handle. Vehicle has been like this for 6 years or so , figured in the holiday break to fix it, if i can.

Well buddy, i fixed the problem i had to remove the shifter handle for.
Inside the console there is ratchet/detent plate, a stud moves on this ratchet when the shifter is moved, a tiny spring holds this stud on the ratchet, im my case the spring had come off allowing the stud to come out of place, 2 min fix to repair, took longer to get console off!
This may help you in future.
