Default Smoke from steering column

ok I posted about my right blinker staying on typed left but meant right. My brake lights would come on by themselves. I looked around at other postings to get some ideas. Well then the column started smokeing and when i turn the right signal on now i here a buzz from the relay in the dash. When the truck is off if I step on the brake pedal the SES light comes on. I took the dash and column apart and havent seen anything yet Im thinking the brake switch or turn signal switch. I cant find any diagrams but the previous owner put rear mounted fog lights and a chargable flash light in the back they tapped into a pink wire at the harness connector going into a computer. Could that be part of the prob i noticed a pink wire going into the signal switch..

sounds like you have a grounded out wire. could be a wire going into the Multi-fuction swich i would trace them all back and make sure they have no damage and also test the wire for resistance

Tell your steering column it's gonna die from cancer if it keeps on smoking

Default Smoke

I had the same problem... smoke from the steering column area. Had the multifuntion switch replaced and it fxed the problem. If I remember correctly,I ingnored the smoke for a longtime until my brake lights failed, replacing the multifunction switch fixed both issues. Not an expert, but that is my story.
