I've had this happen about 5 times in the last year, buzzing speakers. Factory radio, no mods that I know of. I bought my Blazer 11-29-06 and have been lurking here ever since.

Anyway, the buzzing never amounted to much and would go away on the next restart usually, until Tuesday. I went to the bank and everything was fine, on the way home the speakers were buzzing and all the lights on my dash blinked once or twice. When I got home I turned off the ignition and every thing went dead. very dead. No dome lights, no dash lights, wouldn't start, nothing.

Driver's window was still down too and it's been raining here in the Northwest lately. I checked all the fuses and didn't find a problem there. After a while the blinker sound started in the passenger kick panel. I put a battery charger on it and it started out drawning a couple of amps and then jumped up to 8 amps. I checked the battery with my volt meter and it registered 4.5 volts. Something was drawing juice big time, but I have no idea what.

I put the battery charger back on it and the light under the hood came back on slowly. I got the window rolled up, but there was arcing sounds coming from the window switch and a light show from the dash and dome lights, kinda like the 4th of July. I'm not sure if the battery charger was still hooked up at the point or not, probably was. I unhooked the charger and it all went dead again.

Then I put the charger back on since I couldn't think of anything else to do, the system got power again after about 30 seconds and is working normally now. The battery then showed 12.18 volts instead of the 4.5 it was before without the charger on it and 14.5 volts with the engine running. I checked the battery cables last night, no corrosion anywhere at all and the battery looks to be about a year old but nobody pulled the date dots when it was installed. I got the cables back on tight, but I don't think they were loose to begin with.

I'm thinking the speaker buzzing is related, but possibly not. Could be a coincidence I suppose.

Anyone have an idea what this could be?

all I can think is that there is a bad ground somewhere in the system.
