Default sponge brake pedal

Replaced front pads, and brakes are still sponge feeling. The system hasn't been opened for a air leak. Fluid levels are full. When you stop thepl travel is about three inches. Open too suggestions.

What about the rear pads? I had the same problem and the rears were worse than the front were (cheap junk was installed at the time of mechanical when I bought my Blazer and wore out before the 3 year old factory pads did up front.) After my brake job everything was fine, stopped like my old Cavalier just by touching the pedal.

I'd still bleed the brakes. did you have to compress the calipers to get the new pads in and over the rotors? Just bleed them. I bet it will work.

did you take the cover off your brake fluid resovoir when you pushed the caliper pistsons back in?? if not you could of created an air bubble in the brake system.

The spongy feeling could be from moisture in the brake fluid. I would flush the system with new fluid making sure to ALWAYS keep the reservoir full!

I would just bleed you brakes..remembering to start with the wheel farthest away from the master cylinder with 2 people it only takes a few minutes....if that doesn't work flush the system out with new fluid
