Default Squeeling tires

Hi,
This is only the second time I've posted on the Forum so hopefully I'm doing this correctly. My 2004 Blazer has wheels/tire that squeal. I'm thinking that I either need a wheel alignment or new brakes (ceramic best?), but I'm not sure. How can I tell for sure, or can I? Really appreciate your advise. Thanks again.

if you think that its the brakes, its very easy to check. you just have to pull the tire off and check the wear indicators on the brakes. if they are touching the rotors on either the out side or inside, that could be your problem. if its not that, then we would need more information like rich said.

If you do need brakes, I would suggest you go for the ceramic. They cost a little bit more than semi-metallic, but they won't squeal, and you won't get a ton of brake dust. I had a real bad experience with cheap semi-metallic pads once, and after that I've gone ceramic and haven't looked back.

awh man i saw this thinking "SWEET BLAZER BURNOUTS!!"......little disappointed lol

alright where is this sound coming from (front or back) so we can try to narrow down the possiblitys

is it a constant noise going down the road?
or when your on the brakes?
hit a bump?
you could have a caliper hung up bad brake pads or shoes or...you might just have a rock stuck between your pad and rotor ...

Default Thanks for your fast replies!

it was a constant squeal coming from the front, wished it had been a rock between the pad and rotor, but I got new ceramic brakes. If ceramic brakes don't squeal when the're old, how am I going tell when I need new brakes? Is that a powerfully dumb question?

They will still squeal when old. They should have that little tab that contacts the rotor when they get down to a certain point. They just won't have a harmonic and squeal all the time like some cheap pads will.
