Finished the job a couple hours ago, everything went fine got the new switch in and the she started right up with no hesitation. Ended up with some leftover screws from all the trim panels but oh well shes together and running fine. The switch I pulled out had been spliced into on almost every wire and some had been spliced twice (including the power wire...). Hopefully this will fix it up only time will tell but it looks promising as I have no delay in the gauges coming up and she turns over really nice.

The fuel gauge still bounces though so the switch didn't fix that, I feel like its probably the sensor on the pump like my mechanic said. I just had my multiswitch replaced 2 months ago with a brand new one so i doubt its that. Probably a project for the summer.

Good job! The splices were most likely from an aftermarket security system. Probably had problems with it due to a poor installation

It's very possible the fuel gauge problem is being caused by a problem in the fuel level sensor buffer. Very common with aftermarket fuel pump modules. It can be serviced separately, you don't need to replace the entire fuel pump module. Thanks for posting back.

Yea I'm pretty sure it was because of the system we ripped out of it in December as two wires in the multifunction switch were melted and one was just straight up cut and left. As for the grounds that was one of the first things we went over when i had it in the shop, he got to most of the them I believe and polished them up.
