so, thank you for all that helped me with my started problem, but now i have a question..

After i replaced my started, I throttled the engine to get her going, an the truck "sneezed" and black honeycomb flew out, I have no idea what it is, but there about the size of charcoal bricks.

here's a couple pictures. Sorry they are so blurry.

your cats are shot, that belongs inside the converter, you should replace them quickly.

Wow, yeah... Your cat is gone. It is amazing that those chunks made it through the system. Those mufflers are probably a straight through design.

Wow! Yeah what they said. Catalytic converter has disentegrated. Replace the cat and hopefully your exhaust isn't stopped up with that crap.

Yah with those hunks you probably are going to want to take off the muffler and give it a shake. If those pieces could make it out who knows what else could be part way out. Plus there should be some platinum and paladium bbs in the system somwhere if the mesh did that.

take your whole exhaust behind your cats off shake it all out and replace your cat with either a new one or a straight pipe. if ya dont live in an emissions state you dont really need a cat anyway so no need for it. im cutting mine off in the next month or so

Other than the fact that it is a FEDERAL CRIME! Sound advice for sure.

Kyle, I'm not saying that it's good advice, but I know ALOT of guys who have taken their cats out. It's all who you know, at least around here.

I believe one shop has said, "as long as it doesn't have one in there when you bring it in, then we don't have to replace it."

That is an awful risky line to give... Not having one in there when it comes in does not put the shop into a gray area concerning what should be reinstalled. Having an owner request a straight pipe does not absolve them from the fact that they broke the law by not installing properly functioning emissions equipment into a vehicle with federally mandated emissions, regardless of testing in that state/county/etc.

Just to let everyone know here. I know of 5 people whom have been fined $5000 for not having a catalytic converter on their vehicle. Only 2 of them live in a state where there is emissions testing. I also know of 2 shops which have since been shut down for "repairing" an exhaust system without properly reinstalling emissions devices.

Do as you please, but do not complain if/when you get caught.
