Default Which starter?

Hi all, I have a 04 blazer and I'm getting ready to replace the starter, been having to old school it and rap on the solenoid to get it to turn over. I've been looking at rockauto and they list two different types, 1st production and 2nd production which seems to be an 11 tooth or 9 tooth. How do I know which one to get without pulling the one in there or does it make a difference?

I would say since you gotta pull the starter anyway...pull it and see what you got...

I would but I'm still in need of the vehicle, it can't be down for however long it takes from rockauto. Right now it still starts but I carry around my long hunk of metal bar to tap that solenoid when it acts up, I know that's not going to last forever either.

You could look up the proper part number using your VIN at a GM parts place online or with the local dealer and then cross reference it with the ones listed at Rockauto.

Thanks for the suggestion, I totally forgot about that, it's been a long week, house broke, blazer broke and my other car broke too plus we lost power the other night and it's frigging cold out. Ended up being the first design with 11 teeth
