starter wen yesterday so i replaced it today with a buddy and its starts right up with no grinding BUT i do get some sound like a supercharger when i go to start it. it starts up real quick now compared to before . just wondering if the other noise is common or not, never had to replace a starter before.

 

I have that same noise in the starter i just rec put in my van, starts fast as hell and has a little whine to it.. I wouldnt worry too much about it unless you start hearing grinding...

 

yea its weird lol. i heard its only a problem if the whining continues after startup, so yea im not gonna worry to much about it. most likely cuz its new. thanx for the reply though.

This noise is common with replacement gear reduction starters. I'm not sure if the starter used in these trucks is a gear reduction type, but it probably is. As said already, so long as it does not continue after the engine starts, it is fine.
