Starting issue
Our 99 jimmy starts fine 1st thing in the morning then after we drive it a bit park it come back and start it it takes a few times before it actually starts up is this just simply spark pugs and wires it needs?
It is possible that it needs a tune up and if you don't know when a tune up was done last, that would be a good start point. Remember, these trucks seem to prefer AC Delco caps, rotors, and double platinum spark plugs. Many members have had problems with aftermarket caps & rotors that, while brand new, were allowing cross-fire, making their problems worse.
You can also run a fuel pressure test to make sure that the pressure is where it should be and that it doesn't leak down after the pump shuts off (pressure should be >55psi and remain above 50psi 10 minutes after the pump shuts off).
Other DIY friendly maintenance items would be a MAF, throttle body (including IAC valve), and EGR valve cleaning. All of which are covered in the Tech Article (DIY) section, a link to which can be found in my signature below.
