Question starts wont stay running

this morning i went to go to work and started my 1999 Blazer it started for 2 secs and dies. it does it about 10 times then finally it will start and stay running. The fuel pump is running everytime. It will rev up to about a 1000 rpm then die giving it gas doesnt work either, it still dies. If this has happened to anyone else please give me some help.

Do you notice the security light on the dash being on while it is not starting? Sounds like a failing ignition switch to me.

sounds like a fuel pressure problem, try change the fule filter, if you are going to change the fuel pump i would check the filter first, it could be the problem and it is cheep to replace

Silly question but are you almost out of gas? Fuel pressure test will rule out most of these..if you're out of gas it will have enough to start then drop right off...at least mine did

With a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel pressure test port... The Tech Article (DIY) section has the specifics. But lets discuss anything more specific about your problem in the thread you have started on the subject.

I hate to say it but my old 98 blazer had this happen. It was a last step until it stopped altogether. It turned out to be the fuel pump giving out. If found if I turned it on to get the fuel pump going and get the pressure up enough (about 5 to 10 seconds) it would have enough fuel to get it going. But eventually that didn't work either. Yep, a fuel pressure test would be your best bet.

I'm having the same problems. 2 monthes ago my fuel pump died and I replaced it. 3 weeks ago trouble code P0446 came up. 2 weeks ago it would start, run for 2 secs then die. I would have to let it sit for about 2 min, then turn it to "on", letting the pump kick on (which it did every time)until the dash lights went out, then start it. I started needing to repeat this process more and more until it just wouldn't start, a week ago.
I replaced the vapor canister purge solenoid and valve for the P0446 code this past Friday. I had been trying everything. The pump runs, I get fuel to the engine, still nothing. Monday out of the blue, after trying it a few times, it started. We put a diagnostic scanner on it and ran "Pathfinder", but found nothing wrong. The engine does lag though when reved and almost dies as it throttles down when in park. While driving it lags and accelerates super slow. It started fine for 2 more times and now it won't start again.
I'm lost, confused, and need help. Please!

Start with the basics, test the fuel pressure and check the plugs, wires, cap, & rotor. Clean the MAF, EGR and entire throttle body (including IAC valve & passage).
