Default Steering wheel radio controls removal

Hello all,
First post other than my introduction and I hope I don't sound too much like a noob, although I am lol.
I want to change my steering wheel on my '99 Blazer and I've seen many vids on how to do it and they seem pretty straight forward.
I know how to get the airbag of per the vids but, nothing shows how to get to the airbag clips if I have the radio control paddles in the way.
Already have an aftermarket radio installed and the steering wheel controls are now moot.

How do I take them off so I can get to the airbag clips which would lead me to the mounting nut?
I already know about disconnecting the battery and pulling the airbag fuse.
I just don't wanna start ripping stuff out simply to get to the airbag clips.
Suggestions and advise please.
Best to all

Airbag removal is the same with or without the radio controls. The controls themselves do not get in the way of removal of the airbag or steering wheel.

If you're wanting to remove the radio controls completely, you'll want to grab a steering wheel from a junk yard without the radio controls. You won't need the entire wheel, just the back plastic cover. If you just gut the steering of the radio controls, you'll be left with a gapping hole on either side where the buttons use to be. But, you can take the plastic back half from a steering wheel without radio controls and transfer it over to your steering wheel, it's just held on with a couple of torx screws.

For what it's worth, you CAN make the factory radio controls work with an aftermarket radio... You just have to install the module that translates and communicates between the factory controls and the aftermarket radio.

I've been into these steering wheels a few times. Actually did the opposite, I added steering wheel controls to my Blazer that didn't originally come with them.

Thanks so much,
Will update with my progress or lack thereof,
