Default Strange question

My co-worker has a 2003 s-10 pickup and he noticed something strange tonight. All his gauges work fine but when he turns off the ignition and waits about 15 seconds the temp and the gas gauge rise to about the half way mark. Any ideas on why they do that?

But to be realistic now..... I've had this problem before on a car that was about to blow a head gasket. Well it blew the gasket a month or 2 later. It also could be ECU having issues. Not really sure though. Good luck with this
