Default Stuck in 4 wheel drive. Help!!!

Hello guys, y 4wd was working perfectly until 2 days ago.
The "service 4wd" light came on and it won't come out of 4wd.
The the 4button switch first starting not getting any power, so I took that out as well the unit on the passenger side and cleaned all the connectors and pushed in all the wires. Now it powers up but it will not get out of 4wd.

When I press the button I hear the unit on the passenger side click as well as a whining noise under the driver's side then the light just keeps flashing and nothing else happens. THERE is vacuum in the actuator under the hood on both sides of it(incoming and outgoing) .

Any ideas on what it can be???Thanks for the help!!!

Shhh come in here close, i dont want everyone to hear this...
*whispers* when i was changing out my TCCM, i had a similar problem.... i had no F-ing clue what it could be. i found that turning off the vehicle, then starting it while tapping the 2HI button approx. 1 million times.... it should go through the check steps WHILE being told to shift into 2HI. Worked for me. MIGHT hellp and it's easy to check.

*normal volume* ... so anyway, that's how a fully synchronized transmission and differential work together...

you might want to ensure the cable is not frozen, and you can try shifting into 2 hi while rolling slowly in reverse

haha that's funny.

Well here is what I did, I lifted one front tire and and tried to turn it and i could not. I then disconnected the vacuum line to the actuator and i was able to move the tire, i then sucked on the hose and it engaged again so that leaves what????
1-The tranfers case??(even though it makes noises??)
2-And the transfer motor???( Even though it makes noises??)
3- Anybody know how to clear the 4wd code????Maybe that is why it is not switching???

Clearing the code requires a high speed (read as "Not $90") OBDII scanner

Try the search function to back this up (and learn a bit more about what to check an where) but I would say it sounds like you have a bad Encoder Motor. Sounds aside, i believe it to be the culprit BASED on 2 sources:
1) Almost every issue that has come up on 2 gen 4wd has been in (descending order) the endocer motor, the front axle switch, and the TCEM. You pulled the vac line and it went to 2wd, so that doesn't rule out any of those 3 actually, since you're a 4 button (AutoTrac).

you already cleaned the TCEM, you checked the acuator, and you unhooked the front axle. next I would try checking your grounds. ensure they are making good contact. then i would check your solenoid dead center of your engine compartment all the way in the back by the distributor (vac lines feed in and out of it). the proper voltage is listed in a post around here (search posts by swartlkk, solenoid, from yesterday - october ).
once you check both of those two off. you are left with your TCEM.

which brings me back to my second source:
2)

mine gets stuck in 4hi sometimes, and I always crank my wheel to the left or right and push the button and move at the same time (reverse seems to work better) comes out right away or sometimes after a few tries. also, i had a problem where my 4wd just wouldnt work. tried 3 different encoder motors and still nothing. Decided to unhook the battery, left it for a few hours, plugged it in and it worked like a charm!! good luck

I checked the tranfer case again in the kick panel for the passenger side and I noticed that one of the pins was broken off. Do you think this could be the problem??Most likely right??? If when it runs the diagnose and sees that it is not working right and then it throws a code which does not let the transfer motor switch positions right??? Isn't that how it works???If there is a code it will not change modes right???
Tomorrow I will go to the scrapyard and get one brand new and see what happens.

well, if you have broken pins then yeah I'd say there's your problem
can't hurt to splice a new end in. A $2 fix beats a $300 fix every time...

^^ used that a few times but it never gets old (to me) when it turns out to be an easy fix!
