Stupid A/C again

So it's a 99 Blazer with 122,xxx on it. In 08 i replaced the condenser, compressor and the little filter in the hose. My compressor took a dump last summer and i replaced it again and got it recharged. Now it only blows hot air. I topped off the freon with no results. The clutch on the compressor kicks on, everything in the engine bay is cold to the touch and it seems like everything should be working. I'd like to keep any repairs on the cheaper side by doing things myself. Problem is, i've no clue what to try next. Any suggetions?

When you adjust the temparature control inside the vehicle does the temperature of the air change at all? If it doesn't it could be your blend door actuator gone bad. If the a/c clutch engages & pipes are cold on the suction side of the compressor then I would say that side of things are OK.

So this blend actuator door, is it the big door that drops down to cover up/expose the fan behind the glovebox? If so it opens and closes whenthe controls are moved. And yes, the temp doesn't change one bit and it is one of those computer controlled climate things. Could you please let me know if i'm looking at the right thing? Thanks!!

Hmm - without looking I don't know for sure but I think you may be looking at the flap that controls whether the air is recirculated inside the vehicle or brought in from the outside. Is it controlled by a vacuum actuator? The blend door (on the auto climate control anyway) is controlled by an electric actuator on top of the heater/fan housing. If my memory serves me correctly it is very tight against the top underside of the dashboard and difficult to get to, there will be an electrical connector on the top of it. It is difficult to see anything move, it will just make a quiet whirring noise as it works. It connects to a shaft that is attached to the blend door. Sorry if I can't be more specific but it is quite a while since I did the job, I just remember access being very tight.

I see, i also noticed that the vacum controlled thing is working as well. Guess i'll have to tear more stuff apart to try and find the actuator. So would it be accessable if i took the pass speaker out? I'll keep everyone posted. And thanks for the help.

It is accessible by dropping the glove box down and out of the way. You'll need small hands and a small screw driver ratchet. I have rather large hands and have done it. It wasn't the easiest thing I have ever done, but far from the worst.

This sounds like my problem too.
I heard a LOUD door slamming type sound the first couple dozen times I used the A/C this year, when the slamming noise stopped the A/C stopped getting cold.
This was a month ago but I have just been driving my 98 Corvette since the air works great and the top comes out which is so much more fun then working on my Blazer.
I will have to fix this before I put the Vette up for the winter, not that I'll need A/C in the winter, but I will not have room in the Garage if I put up the Vette because I also have the 67 Buick project in the Garage. I need a bigger garage!
Please let me know if anyone has pictures, I guess I will post some if I do this, or I can post some of the drawings from my 1999 Dealer Service mnaual.

So i finally got off my lazy can and took the actuator out. I originally tried to take the entire dash out but said screw it and just got my hands up there. I took the smallest ratchet with no extension, the smallest socket which luckily fit and squeezed my small hands/wrists in there. I took it aprts and saw that one of the gears was cracked pretty bad. I saw pics of broken gears on the web and it looks just like them. The new parts come in tomorrow so i'll throw it in and report if it fixes the problem. More to come!!!

And just that quickly it is done. Just wish i would've done it sooner. Got the new actuator on and now have lovely cold A/C again. Not that i use the A/C but at least i won't have hot air blowing on my feet as i drive. Thanks to everyone that helped.
