Angry Stupid Smog Pump

I have a 2001 4x4, lt, is there any way to take out the secondary air injection pump?? Its causing the dreaded damn check engine light from hell, I pulled the pump and managed to break off the pump part that connects the house, the plastic is brindle from the heat and hose was really on there, so now that I feel stupid I guess I have to make my way to the junk yard, Its more off any annoyance than anything, just wondering if anyone has an ideas, worst part of it is, I don't know if the motor is even bad, I got a replacement, but the one in there wasn't too bad, very little moisture in it, but it sum freely and whatnot, well anyways done for my night, maybe pick it up next week sometime, anyone have any ideas? thank you much.

You have to get the PCM tuned to remove the AIR pump. It could impact your catalytic converter life.

AutoZone or Advance Auto will read the code for free. Let us know.

Angry

Well I know its a code 0410, which is secondary air injection. First thought from what i read is the air pump, that is was going to replace the motor, but I broke the housing trying to pull the hose off is basically what happened, there wasn't much water in it thou, so im wondering if its the air check valve thing under the battery, I don't know, I'm not the most mechanical person, sorta learning as I go. thanks.
