Default Thermostat Sensor

My temperature on my truck is wrong so I want to change the sensor that reads this. I understand it’s in a thermostat housing. My question is where is this? I think I know where it is, but some of you have said this is not it.

The temp sensor should be in the front of the intake, the sender shold be in the cylinder head on the driver side

The sender has one wire (probably green) and sends a signal to the gusge in the dash.
The sensor has 2 wires and sends a signal to the computer.

If your guage is inaccurate, it's probably the unit in the driver side cylinder head.
Put a bucket down to catch the coolant that will leak out when you remove the sender (with a 3/4" deep socket)

Thank you chevy lover, so the sender is the sensor that tells me the temp on my gauge, and the sensor is a sensor that tells the computer the temperature. So how do I know the "sensor" is correct also and not inaccurate considering the two are separate. I can only tell that the sender is wrong...would I need to get a code reader to read what the computer is getting for a temperature?

I don't believe a code reader will tell you the temp that the computer sees. You would need a scanner for that.

I still feel a little confused. You guys want me to replace the sender (the sender is what tells me the temp via guage on my dash) but how do I know the sensor is correct and the computer is getting the correct temperature?

Let's start from the beginning, maybe I missed something.
Why do you think the "temperature on your truck is wrong"

My gauge reads 150 degrees once it is fully warmed up.
