Default Throttle body cleaning?

I pulled the air cleaner and thought while that's off maybe I should spray some throttle body cleaner up in there. Then I saw the housing that sits on the throttle? and it looked like an invitation to lift that off (pic). o I unscrewed the bolt but couldn't easily lift the housing as indicated in the illustration.

Maybe I don't need to be messing with this idea. Car seems to be running fine, just put in a new filter and call it good?

Need to loosen the hose clamp at the end of this plastic piece so that it can rotate within the intake hose. Then with that bolt removed, rotate the plastic piece towards the radiator and then lift if off. Once you have it off you will see the fork or fingers that hold the front on.
To re-install, put the fork/fingers on first then rotate towards the windshield.

Thank you Lanny, again! Is a throttle cleaning a good idea of just an opportunity for trouble?

In theory, it's not necessary, since there shouldn't be anything but filtered air going through it. In reality, blowby from the crankcase also can. It won't hurt anything to clean it if it's dirty. If it looks clean, I'd probably leave it alone.

Well, I had the cleaner and knew how to open the housing, so I cleaned it. Got some satisfaction. Now what to do with the remaining 11-1/2 oz of throttle body cleaner...:-/

You can use the remaining cleaner on all of your friend's vehicles.
