Default Throttle Body Problem!

Okay Im having idling issues and I think I will clean the throttle body just to see if it helps(and its pretty dirty) . I have heard that after a cleaning, many people experience extremely high idle. How can I avoid this, and if it occurs, how can I correct it? I have also heard that you can slowly pour Seafoam down there while opening the throttle until it dies, then crank it and clear it out. Is this okay to do as well?

Any help would be appreciated!

Take your throttle body, EGR valve, and MAF sensor right off and clean them up. Use MAF sensor cleaner on the MAF(located on your intake tube right after the filter) but be very gentle if you break the small wire it will be no good. Just spray liberally and let it dry on its own. Use Seafoam to clean the EGR located on the front of the lower intake manifold to the right of the thermostat. You want to let the seafoam soak into this for an hour or two and then flush it out and use a new gasket upon reinstall, also clean out the hole in the intake manifold you will see when you remove the EGR. Then the Throttle body which is basically unbolt, clean, and bolt back on. Try these then seafoam the rest of the engine and change your plugs & oil.

If you still have a problem then it is time for a tune up(cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter, whatever it needs) I'd say that with cleaning those three you will notice a good difference, I'm guessing your K&N oiled filter got your MAF dirty which is making it run funky.

Hope this helps!

Swain thanks for the help that all worked out just fine, got it all done in around 2 hours. Also did the throttle body blade mod, WOW did that put a noticable difference on her. The only issue I had was the darn o-ring on the ide control valve. The lil orange o-ring ripped on me as soon as I pulled it out of its groove. Had to stick a generic one back in so all is well now though. Thanks
