Default throttle cable

replaced throttle cable on 97 blazer vortec and at the throttle body end its too long. Power train products will not return my calls. Is there anyway of taking up the slack without pulling cable out of the bracket and ziptieing it to the bracket? At the gas pedal end there are too stops two inches apart at the end.One for the gas pedal and one to keep the cable from retracting into the sheath. Is it possible to use the second one to take up the slack and if so how do u get the plastic cup to slide back to the second stop?
