Sounds like a valve. Does it tick when in park?
How much oil do you have?
When was the last time you changed the oil?
How many miles on the engine?

Might be time to run a can of Seafoam through the oil system, although I prefer Marvelous Marvins Mystery oil treatment. Pretty much Kerosene/deisel fuel. It thins out the oil and cleans out sludge build up. You must change your oil and oil filter after the treatment. I do two treatments in two consecutive oil changes, usully every 100,000 miles, or when I do tune-ups. Which ever comes first.
