Well I hate to mention this but if you happen to have a Harbor Freight in your area a 2 ton foldable hoist can be bought for usually under 2 hundred bucks.

I looked over hoists at sears and most of the parts stores and such that offer them in my area and the hoists at HF are of the same design and sometimes thicker steel was used in the HF units.

I have a HF 100 miles from me and I watched their sales and I picked up both of mine for just a little over a 100 bucks each. And if your worried about what they can lift and stability look at pics in my post above.

But however I wouldn't get a engine stand there as they are way cheap in quality and pretty flimsy.

Yeah...have a Harbor Freight under 10 miles away; new hoist is $239 + sales tax. A couple of CraigsList's used HF hoists, couple of years old with asking price of $200. I was hoping to find one less than $150 as this will be a one time use....(famous last words....right?).

Last engine stand I had was a cheap 750lb model which I used on three 2.8L V6s and two 5.7L V8 engines...held-up just fine. Have not looked for used stands yet, hope I can find one for less than $50.

I wil have the summer to look around.

Best wishes! You may have to deal with heat, but at least you don't have to deal with rusty bolts from salt. Say hi to Phil for me!

I think my engine stand was $40 at Autozone about 10 years ago. Only used it once.

I had a front cover seal leak. I was in doing the RC lift so I had diff out so thought Id go ahead with pulling oil pan and found front cover cracked on lower lip. Replaced front cover and reused oil pan with new gasket. Still leaked. Was told by a shop afterwords ofcourse that a new pan should be used too cause theyve run into same issue. GL!
